Welcome to What's Up Plus

Several years ago, the late Bishop Thomas G. Doran approved a cost-saving measure for The Observer. He allowed us to skip editions on fifth Fridays. But this has invariably led to missed items. So this blog is a way we can try to fill those gaps. We hope you like this addition to The Observer's online offerings.
We won't promise new items every day, or even every week, but we'll try to include things that come in after deadline plus other miscellany that comes in. (That's where the "plus" comes in.) We hope every one of our readers feels free to tell us about things they are reminded of when they read The Observer. Attach a photo, too, if you have one. If we can reproduce it, we'll use it here.
And you'll find us a little less formal than we are in the pages of the paper.
